New background technique.

Hi gorgeous,

I have a new background technique for you today. Experimenting is sooo much fun. Making videos is fun, but I'm far from a pro at that. My equipment is not great, but I do the best I can with what I've got. It's better to share new exciting things than to strive for perfection in everything. Art often happens by accident, doesn't it?

I have been on a high when it comes to producing art lately. It seems to go in cycles, and I welcome the wave when it comes to sweep me away!

My latest technique involves acrylic paints, water, alcohol, and salt. Yes, you read that right. Salt makes cool patterns in the paint.

I made this video using an old painting I painted in 2004 as inspiration, a star angel. She sends out the stars into the night sky.

Click here to access the link to the video.

Art journaling has become a real obsession for me. It is so much fun and you can try all kinds of new techniques and ideas without ruining an expensive canvas. Speaking of canvases, I did finish a mixed media piece as well last week.

Broken Dreams 12x12"

Portraits are always a challenge, but fun to paint. Every face has its own expression.

What are you working on lately? I would love to hear about it.

Loving art of all forms...

Since my own production has been a bit on the low side, I've been cruising all kinds of blogs and websites for inspiration, and also gazillion Facebook pages. So many great artists out there!

I did finish a mixed media piece, the portrait of a woman.  I call it Contemplation. I have been working on it on and off for a long time, never quite satisfied.  It's as good as it is ever going to get at this point!  What do you think?

12x12" with many layers

I'm also working on book number two in my fantasy series, so if you're interested in writer's know-how and details about the book, hop to THIS link.  It's just a different way of creating something out of nothing.
What are you working on today?

Merry Christmas...

My creative funk is continuing.... a real desert around here. :(  Anyway, I have this happy painting from a couple of years back that will spread some holiday cheer, my Christmas Angel.  I want to be able to make more and share more, but for now, this is what it is.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS everyone!  I love your blogs and they give me inspiration all the time, and I thank you for that! :)

I painted this in 2004...

Another collage...this one with oil pastels.

Was inspired to do another 12 x12' collage with paper on canvas with paint on top. I like the birds from the previous collage, so I put some in this one as well. The face is softer because I used oil pastels instead of acrylic paints. I like the effect better. For sale on etsy for anyone who is interested.

Another day in paradise...

...as Tom Selleck used to say in Magnum P.I. Sometimes I watch the reruns and enjoy some the shenanigans they got into. I especially liked Higgins and the Lads. :)

I've been working on some collages, but not being very productive right now. Here's one, another inspirational "Living from the Heart." 'Tis the only way to live, isn't it? I sold the two previous collages here locally to a woman who saw one of them on Facebook. You never know where you might find potential customers. I always post photos on these online venues.
Mixed media is lots of fun, and selling them is GREAT!
